About the Fifth Third Bank MasterCard® Gift Card How the MasterCard Gift Card Works: As the gift recipient uses the card, the amount of the purchase is automatically deducted from the card's available balance preset at the time of purchase. That amount is listed on the gift card wrapper and under the balance section of this website. When the available balance is reduced to zero, the gift recipient can keep the card as a memento of your gift. Lost or Stolen If the gift card is lost or stolen with a balance remaining, the gift recipient can cancel the card and order a replacement, provided they have registered their card with us in advance (fees may apply).
