No. The Fifth Third Bank Prepaid MasterCard Gift Card carries a fixed cash amount that is determined by the purchaser at the time of purchase. What happens if I need to return an item? Return policies vary by merchant. If the merchant issues a credit to your card, it may take up to seven business days for the credit to be reflected on your card balance. [back to top] How are tips and gratuities handled? When making a purchase at a restaurant, hotel, cruise line, salon, or spa, the merchant may temporarily add an additional 15%-20% to the purchase amount to cover tips or incidentals. Make sure your balance is sufficient to accommodate the additional 15%-20%, or your transaction will be declined. [back to top] What if the purchase is declined? If the balance on your card is insufficient to complete a transaction, the transaction may be denied. In these instances, you may want to ask the merchant if you can perform a Split Tender Transaction. In other words, use what's left on your Gift Card and pay the balance in cash, with a check or by some other method, subject to the policy of the merchant. Also, please be aware that use of the card at restaurants, hotels, cruise lines, spas, salons, taxis, card rental, and mail order merchants may require an available balance greater than the purchase amount to ensure sufficient funds to cover gratuities, incidental charges, shipping, or other charges that may be assessed by the merchant. Making purchases: Check your balance before making a purchase. Some merchants may allow you to make purchases above your card amount if you tell them the balance of your card ahead of time, and if they agree to accept another form of payment for the difference. Can the card ever have a negative balance?
Any authorization request that is greater than the card balance will be declined. However, there may be instances in which a merchant completes a sale without prior authorization. If an overdraft occurs, the card recipient would be required to make a payment to Fifth Third Bank Gift Card Services to cover the negative amount. Yes. The A "Valid Thru" date is embossed on the front of the card. Except where prohibited or modified by applicable law, you will not be able to make purchases using the card or request a Replacement Card after the Valid Thru date has passed. [back to top] What happens if there are still funds available when my card expires? We encourage you to use the entire amount of the gift card before it expires. The card and its underlying funds will not be accessible past the "Valid Thru" date displayed on the front of the card. After this date, the card will be cancelled and any unused balance will be handled according to applicable unclaimed property law. [back to top] Can I reload my Fifth Third Bank Prepaid MasterCard Gift Card? No. The cards cannot be reloaded with additional funds. [back to top] What happens if my card is lost or stolen? Fifth Third Bank provides 24-hour toll-free support. If your Gift Card is lost, stolen, or used improperly, contact us immediately, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, at 1-866-466-0059. You will be asked to provide us with the Gift Card number and other identifying information. A $10 Replacement Card Fee will apply for replacing Fifth Third Bank "Loyalty/Award/Promo" MasterCard Gift Cards. Replacement of Fifth Third Bank MasterCard Gift Cards purchased at a Fifth Third Financial Center do not incur a fee. If you have not registered your Gift Card, we may not be able to provide a replacement card. [back to top] |
